Application Process

1. Consultation and cleaning - confirm gem placement with the client and clean the tooth surface thoroughly
2. Etching - apply 37% phosphoric acid etch slightly larger than the gem, leave for 20 seconds, rinse and dry until the surface appears frosty
3. Bonding - apply bonding resin with a micro brush and light cure to create a stable foundation
4. Composite application - spread a thin, even layer of composite over the prepared surface
5. Gem placement - position the gem using a microbrush or instrument tipped with ortho wax, press gently to seat
6. Curing - light cure from the lingual surface for 20 seconds, then cure from all labial angles to secure
7. Removal (dental professionals only) - remove using appropriate dental techniques and polish the surface to protect enamel
